1950pro on a 4550

Hi!

Will the Radeon 1950pro fit in my Dell 4550 and will my PSU be able to handle it?

Thanks!

if its an AGP version of the card it will fit. You have an 4x/2x agp slot at 1.5v only. So the card has to meet those requirements. You will also need a 6pin (i believe) power connection from the psu. I dont think I would try with your stock PSU though. Just my opinion.

You'd need a better PSU for it. Your CPU would seriously bottleneck you as well anyway. A GeForce 7600GS or GeForce 7600GT would be beter matches, and work on the stock PSU. The ATi eqivalent in the Radeon X1650XT is a gamble, since the Radeon X1x00 series (X1300, X1500, X1600, etc.) have been largely reported by many other Dell Forum members not to boot in AGP based socket 478 Dell PCs.

Thank you both for your replies!

I was worried that my psu would not handle the 1950pro.
Now i might buy a 7600gt instead.

What settings do you think I can get up to in games like Bioshock and Call of duty 4?
I have a 2.8Ghz P4, 1GB ram.

a 7600GT is a REALLY nice card. It even beats the 8600GT in many games. Yes these are PCIe but still. With a 7600GT, I will say you should be able to do 1280x1024 at Avg to Above avg Quality settings.. at least on COD4. Not sure about Bioshock as I dont have it.
