4600C BEEPS

I HAVE A DIMENSION 4600C WHAT WILL GIVE 2 BEEPS WHILE IDLE.  THE BEEPS ARE COMING FROM THE MOTHERBOARD, WHAT COULD BE THE REASON FOR THIS?

Hi kduck,

Different beep counts indicate different parts failure in the computer.

To isolate the issue, please remove all the external peripherals, the power cable from the desktop, press and hold the power button for 20 seconds. This process will drain all the static energy from the computer.

Now connect only the power cable and restart the system.

Please listen to the beep sounds carefully and count the number of beeps and the order in which the system beeps. And also check the status of the 4 LED lights at the back of the computer and reply with the LEDs lights status and beeps sounds if any.

I would check the problem depending on the status of LED lights and help you further.

Done what you say to do.  No beeping on the startup.  The LED's are all on with b and c were yellow-ish for a while during start up..

Hi kduck,

Please restart the computer in safe mode and check if the system is beeping in safe mode.

To Check in Safe Mode with Networking please follow the below mentioned steps:

  1. Restart the computer.
  2. Keep tapping F8 on the Dell Logo Screen.
  3. Once the computer enters Advanced Boot Option, select Safe Mode with Networking.
  4. Press Enter.

Hi kduck,

I suggest you to disconnect all the peripherals (keyboard, mouse, flash drive, etc) from the computer and restart the computer every time by connecting each component separately. Please check for the beep sounds when the system restarts with a particular device connected.

This is to isolate which components causing the problem.

Please post the results.

There is some confusion on this problem.  Beeping is happening while the computer is on, not at start up.  The beeping is coming from the motherboard , not the sound card.  It is two beeps but I have heard one beep lately.
