Can I run a 20" Apple Cinema Display from the Dell Inspiron 580s?

If yes, what do I need? I have the DVI to VGA adaptor. The Dell doesn't have a firewire port. Do I need it? Any help appreciated.

ATI Radeon™ HD 4350 graphics cards from VisionTek®

Manufacturer Part# : 900273  ,   Dell Part# : A2829975

Will fit in your system.  No idea if it works for your display.  You didn't say which one you have exactly or whether or

not its ADC.     Either way I would say it won't work exactly the way it should because its apple and apple uses

different sync and resolution than regular PC display makers.

Basic Answer.  No.

DVI to VGA indicates to me that you already have a problem.

If this is an ADC display you need the ADC to DVI power supply adapter.

VGA is not going to have the resolution to fit the screen properly.

Newer Cinema Displays need a power supply AND they are Digital only aka DVI you cannot do VGA.

OK, thanks. If I buy the VisionTEK ATI Radeon HD 4350 DMS59 512 MB DDR2 PCIe 2.0 SFF Graphic Card, will it fit in my slim form factor? Will it work for my display?

Sorry. I don't know what ADC is. I have an Apple Cinema Display LCD Part number: M9177LL; Model number: A1081. Purchased in 2006. From what I've read online from users, it "should work" - but I may need to buy some kind of kit for the slim form factor of the Dell.

If you do not have a mac you have to use a DC power (24.5 V)supply for the display.

If your display detects the wrong adapter connected to it, it will flash its power light in a repeating short-long-short error code. Check the table and picture below to learn which power adapter to use with the display.

As you can see in the picture above, each power adapter has the power rating, in watts, printed on it. Make sure your display is using a compatible adapter:

I have this display... ...which adapters can I use?
65 W 90 W 150 W
Apple Cinema Display (20-inch DVI) yes yes yes
Apple Cinema HD Display (23-inch DVI) no yes yes
Apple Cinema HD Display (30-inch DVI) no no yes

The Apple Display Connector, first debuted in the Apple Studio Display, is physically incompatible with a standard DVI connector, as was previously used in the PowerBook G4 and the older Power Mac G4.
