Code 12 when upgrading video card for the 435T
I have a Dell 435T (full tower) desktop and am trying to upgrade the video card from the 512MB ATI Radeon HD 4670 to a GTX 285 that I bought from newegg. I bought http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814143190 and http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341018 to make sure I have enough power to run it.
The power supply works fine with the Radeon card. After switching it out for the GTX 285 and booting up the system, it starts in 4-bit colors and I cannot change the resolution from the basic 800x600. The device manager shows the 285 to have a Code 12 error. This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system. The power supply that came with the system has the exact same problem.
I've looked over the IO and IRQ settings and there don't seem to be any duplicates. I've tried disabling the sound card and network adapter (another PCI-E card according to the device manager). Nothing seems to work. I've reinstalled vista with the new card in and it still fails to recognize the drivers. Has anyone had a problem like this before and know of a solution?
EDIT: After talking to tech support from BFG I was told the video card needs to be set to the IRQ value of 5, 10 or 11. It's currently being assigned 15. The ICH10 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 3A37 is currently taking up the 11 spot. 5 and 10 aren't in use as far as I can tell.

I've recently found the problem after talking to Dell tech support all day. Apparently the motherboard manufacturer has cut a deal with ATI and the motherboards manufacturer for June and later are being locked to ATI cards only. Any nvidia cards are apparently being assigned wrong IRQ values and are thus unable to work.

its actually the manufacturer of the boards, its an agreement between the manufacturers, now since ATI did win the bidding for the default cards on the board, then it was defaulted to carry their cards.

the card should be compatible but since the boards that shipped out are the latest one's its possible that the "lock" took effect

Ended up finding a solution, finally. Since the motherboard manufacturer is blocking Nvidia cards by messing with the IRQ settings, I flashed my BIOS from A09 back to A07 from the Dell driver support site and the new card works just fine.
