DVD Drive Not Working
I have a Dimension 3100C and the HL-DT-ST-DVD+-RW GSA-H21N and it has recently started not to recognise CD's or DVD's. After re-installing the firmware R143730 it now recognises CD's but only intermittently DVD's.
Is my drive in need of replacement if so can any CD/DVD writer be installed or can someone advise if the solution may be something else.
Running XP Home Edition..

It sounds like there might be a problem with the laser?
Assuming (as I think it is?) it's a desktop system, yes... you can use any standard DVD±RW drive :emotion-5:
FWIW... I can personally recommend Pioneer, LG, +/or Samsung drives :emotion-21:
