Dell Dimension C521 Processor Upgrade

Hi, what are the prossesors that i can put into this computer i upgraded the psu to a 600watt one and the video card to an ati radeon 4350 so i could play sims i would like to upgrade so that in the future i wont have any conflicts playing. I was looking into processors and i saw this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103286&cm_re=am2%2b-_-19-103-286-_-Product but thats am2+ and i dont know if i can use it in my socket am2 motherboard. Can I only use socket am2 processors.. Could someone post a list of processors i can put into this computer? Thank You in advance!

Here is a short list of processors that are known to work with the C521:

• Athlon X2 5400+ 2.8Ghz 89W Windsor
• Athlon X2 5600+ 2.8Ghz 89W Windsor
• Athlon X2 6000+ 3.0Ghz 89W Windsor

The following is a list of processors that some people have gotten to work, but others haven't:

• Athlon X2 5600+ 2.9Ghz 65W Brisbane
• Athlon X2 5800+ 3.0Ghz 89W Brisbane
• Athlon X2 6000+ 3.1Ghz 89W Brisbane

Ok the Windsors are known to work, but are no longer made.  eBay is about the only place they can be found.  The Brisbanes are still in disbribution at some retailers, but like I said not everyone has gotten them to work.  They were release long after the last BIOS update for the C521/E521.

None of the newer processors are compatible with the C521/E521, such as the one in your link.  Although most AM2+ processors are backwards compatible the BIOS for the C521/E521 does not recognize them.

Intel Pentium D 930 3.0 GHz 4 MB 800 MHz LGA775 Presler Dual-Core CPU SL95X,could anyone comment to wether this would be a fit for my C521?i have the stock AMD 2 single core sempron 3400+ need something i could use with 64 bit.thanks:emotion-15:

The Dimension C521 does not support any Intel processors, wrong motherboard, BIOS and socket, this desktop only supports AMD CPU's.

Read the post by jsktx, the Athlon X2 6000+ 3.0Ghz 89W Windsor has 64-bit support.
