Dell XPS 8700 & ASUS z97 Compatibility

Less than a month ago I purchased a Dell XPS 8700 which is sold with a z87 motherboard. The performance of this desktop is not satisfactory and I want to replace the z87 motherboard with an ASUS z97 motherboard. Is the ASUS z97 motherboard compatible with this system? If I can upgrade the motherboard to the ASUS z97 motherboard I can then install an Intel series 750 solid-state drive to achieve the performance for Dragon NaturallySpeaking Professional that I need.

Has anyone upgraded their XPS 8700 to an ASUS z97 or does Dell sell or recommend a z97 motherboard that is comparable to the ASUS z97 motherboard that can upgrade a Dell XPS 8700?
