Dell wireless mouse and keyboard/mouse properties

When I got my 2400 in July I ordered this mouse and keyboard and thought I installed it. It works fine,but when I go to control panel and click mouse,thats not my pic of mouse and the mouse properties do not have the word cordless on top so I can check battery status,etc. IT SAYS I have a HID compliant mouse and keyboard,I did not install these 2 items that came with system. Tried to reinstall mouse and keyboard from software they sent,but it freezes in my dvd-rom and have to manually shut down computer and take disk out. Should my mouse properties be for this wireless mouse. Been back and forth with e-mails from Dell tech last 2 days,they are just confusing me. They want me to send mouse back,I have no problem with it,just want it to show up on system.
