Dimension 9200 - Windows Configuration Error - BIOS Downgrade
Hello Dell Tech's and anyone else that can assist.
I have upgraded the BIOS of this machine to the [2.5.3]
However, it took out the Onboard Ethernet Controller.
So, not I have stuck without a Ethernet Controller.
After doing some research, I found out that I am not the only one that this has happened to, that the version 2.5.3
Is bad for killing the Ethernet Controller.
So, I am trying to downgrade to version 2.5.1
To see if that will help, and it is giving me the following error:
(Run as Administrator)
"Dell System DXP061 BIOS Flash 2.5.1"
"Windows Configuration Error"
"An error was encountered trying to configure Windows to allow flashing, please reboot and try again"
--------------------
It seems to me, that the BIOS cannot be downgraded.
Any idea's on this one?

This made it so that I could install the older BIOS
kb.cffcs.com/Main.asp
However, the Ethernet controller, still does not function.
There is a [Orange] and [Green] flashing light, on the top and bottom of the plug in.
However, it is not functioning.
Any idea's on this one? I am in dire need of getting this fix today!

Hi Carrzkiss,
You will need to run the update after booting to a DOS environment.
Run the BIOS update utility from DOS environment (Non-Windows users)
NOTE:You will need to provide a bootable DOS diskette. This executable file does not create the DOS system files.
