Dimension E510 Diagnostic lights - 1,3,4

Installed a new MB RD203, new Pentium D925. Computer wouldn't work.  Got a new D820 (original processor).

Still get black screen, Diagnostic light 1 blinking, 3&4 solid.

Local techs got it to run with the new MB & a used P4, but can't get a D925 or D820 to work. (Over 2 months without a computer!)

When they gave up & gave the computer back, memory was in modules 1 & 3.

I removed memory boards, cleaned them, reinstalled in modules 1 & 2 as recommended - - same result.

Switched chips, tried just one then just the other -- same result.

Any suggestions?  The troubleshooter says to "Reset the BIOS Using the RTCRST, CLR CM or CONFIG Jumper" but I don't really understand the directions: both STCRST & PSWD have jumpers installed, so do I just remove the PSWD and leave the RTCRST? Won't that clear all my passwords?

I'd gladly take it to Dell repair if we had one in Belize... HELP!

I had a "dead" E510 that after replacing the PS, RAM and MB still had 1 blinking, 3&4 solid.  It wasn't until I replaced the 820D processor that I got it back working (with all of the other original parts).

You can check the manual (there's one on this website) for the procedure to clear CMOS using RTCRST jumper. This may worth a try before getting another processor (I'm not confident anything other than a 820D will be supported).
