Drivers for ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT...

With my Alienware computer dead I've fallen back using an old Inspiron 530. Sadly can't update the video card drivers due to the current OS not being supported. I'm running Windows 7, 64 Bit.

I'm currently having video card problems that are driver related and believe they need to be updated, but the current drivers Dell offers are for Vista or XP. Any ideas on what I can do.

Drivers for the 2600xt are WHQL certified.  If you are online it should auto detect and download the drivers.

The link below is correct but they don't allow you to bypass the bla bla bla and download the file.

AMD has moved to the AMD Radeon™ HD 4000, AMD Radeon HD 3000, and AMD Radeon HD 2000 Series new driver support model. These updates will focus on resolving application specific issues and critical updates. The reason for the shift in support policy is largely due to the fact that the AMD Radeon HD 4000, AMD Radeon HD 3000, and AMD Radeon HD 2000 Series have been optimized to their maximum potential from a performance and feature perspective.

HOWEVER you will also have to download and install directx June 2010 and enable dotnet 2.0 / 3.5 in windows 7.

After installing these there can be as many as 432 windows updates and 11 reboots required over 18.5 hours of downloading.

The latest catalyst 13 drivers do not support the older cards.  Only the legacy drivers work with a card that old.

If you have the latest drivers installed you will have to unistall them.
