[HDsk} checkpoint message
I've already read the other posts re: this issue and am pretty sure it is caused by several popping capacitors (not flat on top) on the motherboard.
I have also tried all of the other boot-up helps described on this forum.
My question is...is it possible to remove and use the hard drive from a GX60 in a GX270.
I will test the GX270 today and make sure it boots up properly.
Thanks in advance

Yes, it will.
The part of your post I answered was Quote: My question is...is it possible to remove and use the hard drive from a GX60 in a GX270.
What is the drive you are trying to save the data from, the GX60, or the GX270?
Does the GX270 still run without any issues?
If there are no issues with the GX270 and providing you have the Small Mini Tower version, the GX60 IDE hard drive could be installed in the GX270 as the secondary hard drive and the files and folders transferred to the primary C: / hard drive.

Another easy procedure for transferring the files and folders, is to remove the hard drive from the 'old' computer and using an USB 2.0 adaptor similar to THIS and attach the hard drive to an USB port on a working computer transfer the files and folders to it.

Yes, but for the hard drive to work, you will need to perform a clean reinstall of Windows and load the GX270 drivers.
The Dell Optiplex GX270 motherboards are notorious for bad capacitors.

OK, but a clean re-install of WIN will delete data from the existing GX60 hard drive...right?
All I'm trying to do at this point is save my pictures from the old machine.
Any other ideas?
