Having some trouble with my new PCI card

Before I start, I just want to say that I am not very techy, so if I am missing any specs or info, please just let me know.

I have a E510 with  Pentium(R) D CPU 2.80GHZ, 2.79 GHz, 3.25 GB of RAM. I bought a  SAPPHIRE 100256HDMI Radeon HD 4670 1GB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102842&nm_mc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel&cm_mmc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel-_-Content-_-text-_-

So I deleted the old driver, which was a NVIDA GeForce 7300 LE, and then inserted the new PCI card in to the slot. Once I turned on the computer, my USB ports did not work. I do not know why. Is it because the card requires 400 watts? (My computer has the standard 305.) Once I swapped the cards back, the USB started to work again. I find this pretty weird because people have said that the card should be able to run on 305 watts. If it is the power supply, how much watts should I get? I think a 400 one should be okay.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Vince, I would have gone for the 9500GT or the 4650 with your PSU. Though manufactors do overstate power for their cards, and dell does understate the power of their PSU's, there is a gap of 100w from your PSU and the power recommended by the card.

Robin,

Are you state that Vince problem is related to his power supply? How much power should be recommended for the card?

Hi, Thats a good power supply for your card, and it's a good make as well. Good luck

I'd be surprised if that's the problem, as I successfully used a 4670 1gb with a circa-2005 275-watt power supply.

The 4670 is not *that* demanding on power, especially considering that it will only draw peak power when it is under heaving load, i.e. intense gaming.

I have a Sapphire 4670 Ultimate in my E521, also: AMD 6000+ 125W, 4 GB ram, harddrive and 2 fans on the 305 watt PSU (no CD/DVD-rom or multicard reader).

The 4670 Ultimate is a great low wattage performer.
