Help! Used XPS 720 with Windows XP
I purchased an XPS 720 about a month ago and there are urgent updates that I need. Unfortunately, Dell won't let me download them because I'm not the original owner and I don't know their name. I bought it from a lady who got it from her father-in-law. I've tried contacting her, but so far no luck. Am I just out of luck or what? It seems Dell should have some way to support people who buy their products used. I just want to download updates for goodness sake!!
Thanks for any help.

Dell does not prevent anyone from downloading software. There are Hundreds of updates for XP from MICROSOFT not dell. XP will not update without first installing the Full XP SP3 since the earlier versions are no longer supported.

Hi carriem72,
You donot need to verify the account in order to download and update the drivers.

When I go to Dell and try to download the updates it asks for an admin password. I don't have it because I purchased it used. When I call, they tell me that they can't help me because I don't know the original purchaser's name.

Just press Enter when it asks for the password.

Windows Admin Password is not a Dell Downloads issue.
