With a new PC, it's best to call Dell support.

my check the leads from the front of the case, power lead or power switch on motherboard, check that conntection, that is the one that provides power..
look at your main power connector on motherobard, ,and any other connections that are pluged into motherboard. make sure they are snug.
check you power cord that plugs into the power supply, and wall outlet.

You have 21 days from the ship date to request a full refund. Otherwise they will either fix yours or offer a possible replacemen system
open control panel and select the power icon to access the power options. Also boot into the bios an see what power state is selected. should be some value with an S like S1, S3

I am having the same exact problem on a XPS 710 that is 1.5yrs old.
The computer just "froze" in the middle of surfing. I let it sit a few but everything was locked up. I pulled the power plug, let it sit 15 seconds and hooked it back up.
As soon as I push the power button, the fans come on but instead of a green light on my power switch, I get a amber light - None of the case LED's come on - No output to monitor - No HDD spinning - just fans running.
Pulled the battery for 5 min and rebooted, nothing.
I am thinking the power supply has gone bad...
