I need to upgrade my video card

I have a Dell Inspiron 518 purchased in March 2009 and it needs an upgraded video card so my kids can play games.  How do I know what will fit?

When you say you need to upgrade the video card, do you currently have a dedicated video card or just integrated graphics?

The 518 is a mini tower so any full size card will fit that is going to work with your stock 300 watt power supply.  I would suggest for gaming to get the HD 6670 or the better HD 7750.  You need a PCI Express x16 video card which both of these are.  HERE is an HD 6670.  This is a dual slot card so you just cannot have any other type card in the PCIe x1 slot right below it.   The HD 7750 is going to be more expensive, but you may not need it depending on the games that will be played.

The HIS 7750 is on special for about $105.

If your power supply has a PCI Express connector, you might be able to get away with the more capable 7770.
