Is my RAM Compatible?
Hi there, just bought some RAM and it wont work. It is 2GB PC2 4200/4300 AM2 533 MHZ DDR2 DIMM RAM. I am running it on a Dell Dimension 5150 Pentium D With Windows Vista Home Premium SP2. The system currently has 1.5GB RAM.
I thought it should work. Perhaps the RAM is faulty? Should this work?

Do you mean a Dimension 5150? There is no 5151.
I have an E510 which is identical to a 5150. It WILL NOT accept 2GB RAM modules - maximum is 1GB RAM modules.
From the Dell Manual:
Memory
Type
400-MHz and 533-MHz DDR2 unbuffered SDRAM
Memory connectors
four
Memory capacities
256 MB, 512 MB, or 1 GB non-ECC
Maximum memory
4 GB

Yeah I ment a 5150, the Dell Memory Selector offers a 2GB Module for my PC though http://accessories.ap.dell.com/sna/category.aspx?c=au&l=en&s=dhs&cs=audhs1&category_id=4325&mfgpid=1959449&chassisid=-1
what do you make of this? Is Dell's website wrong?

I suspect the Dell site is wrong (and it wouldn't be the first time). See THIS from Crucial memory (what most of the techie's on here recommend for non-Dell memory as it is guaranteed to work with Dell's).
