Is this possible???

Hey guys,

I bought a Dell Dimension E520 about a year and a half ago with an ATI Radeon X1300 PRO..realising this graphics card is pretty poor, I've decided to upgrade to a more powerful 8800GT to play some games. With that in mind, I will also get a PC Power & Cooling Silencer 500 for Dell. I might also upgrade my CPU if I feel like it..I have an E6400 atm.

I need to know is it possible to fit the 8800GT and will it work??

Is it possible to utilize 800mhz ram on this computer?

Is it a good idea to get a Q6600 (theyre cheaper than E6600s for some reason)?

Also, has anyone tried the Silencer 500 or any of the other PC Power & Cooling Dell products before? and if so, please give some feedback because I want to know if it's reliable and the quality of it.

Any help appreciated

P.S my specs are(just incase you need to know)

Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 -> maybe Core 2 Quad Q6600

2GB 667mhz DDR2 SDRAM -> maybe 4GB 800mhz DDR2 SDRAM

500GB HD of some sort

ATI Radeon X1300 PRO -> Nvidia GeForce 8800GT

Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit

Hi weirdguy99 and welcome to the dell fourms.

to answer your questions:

Yes the 8800gt will fit into the system. Since you are upgrading the power supply it will have the necessary power connectors.

As per your system specs 800mhz ram will work in the system

The Q6600 will not work the system does not support quads.(thank to info provided by Shesagordie)

The PC power and cooling supply is an excellent supply. I put silencer into a old Dimension 8300 and it is still performing flawlessly. These are highly rated supplies so rest easy there and installation was very simple.
