OptiPlex 740 Wiring
I have an old OptiPlex 740 that I need to hook up and see if some files are on it. The cables inside have been disconnected, so it won't boot up. When opening the case, and plugging in the power, a little yellow light in the inside comes on, but it wont start up when pressing the power button. When disconnecting the power, I can hear the disk drive turn off, and the light turns off, so it's getting power but not starting up.
Can anyone help me out?

Thanks for writing to us.
When you press the power button, does it powers up at a second? How about the green light on the PSU at the back?
Disconnect the memory modules and try to power on. If it powers on without the memory modules, then shut down the machine again, and try with one module at a time.
If its still not working, then we are looking at a faulty motherboard and/or PSU
