Precision 360, Hardware Specs..

Hi all,

I'm reinstalling a Precision 360 Desktop for a friend at work but, apparently, he's lost his resource cd and he doesn't know about all the different hardware parts in his machine.
I've been able to find the appropriate drivers on Dell's website for almost everything, but seeing all the different drivers for e.g. the video card, I have no idea which one to choose:

Is there a way one can perform a diagnostic or similar of the system to retrieve which hardware components are present on the motherboard?

Thanks in advance,

Err, I'm not particularly interested in just displaying my service tag number here.

Maybe you could explain how to obtain the information myself or somehow prove that you're an employee who isn't interested in exploiting the tag..

You choose one of the following

3d Labs Wildcat4 7110
ATI Fire GL E1
ATI Fire GL X1 128MB
nVidia Quadro FX 3000
nVidia Quadro NVS 280
nVidia QuadroFX 1000
nVidia QuadroFX 500

There arent that many choices.
Opening the cover and looking may help.

Otherwise post the service tag or serial number on the pc

Well, I'd say that's an awful lot of options. And choosing a wrong device driver really isn't what I'm interested in.

Yeah, I'll have a look inside.
How can my service tag help? If I post it here won't other people be able to abuse it or is it merely a number which identifies the machine?

Thanks for the responses!

Posting the service tag here would lead to no problems. You could go to http://support.euro.dell.com, select your country, onto the next page enter your service tag, then on the left hand side look for "Dell System Profiler", and let it profile your system, that will tell you what hardware you have.

Yeah, I did that already, but somehow it only listed the hardware items that were already installed. Not the unidentified ones..

Thanks,

Ok, how about going into Control Panel, load up System, click on the Hardware tab, and then go into Device Manager, all hardware which is present in the system but has no drives should appear. Select a device which has no drivers and click the button at the top of Device Mangaer called "Update Driver".

.. and if I just download, say, all the video drivers one could hope that Windows would choose the most appropriate one?

Might just do the trick.

Thanks.
