Precision T3500 Memory 1333MHz - Shows 533MHz

I bought Patriot DDR-3 10666  Memory  rated at 1333MHz totaling 12GB on 3 sticks of 4GB. After installing the ram I ran Speccy and got a reading that my 12GB is there only it's running at 533MHz.  I contacted Dell Pro support and the tech was very helpful ended up resetting the board by crossing the pins. After all was done the memory still reads the same.  Is there any way to make the board recognize the speed increase.  The tech was talking jargon I didn't understand.. like my speed is actually twice what I see but I still don't know what the deal is.

Also why would Dell say the computer would take 1333MHz memory when it only reads it to 533MHz? I tried to find the settings in the BIOS but there is no place to change it I could see.

I know somebody has already figured this out, or has decided there's no work around.  The memory was cheap enough $157 including shipping and tax for 12GB from TigerDirect.  I don't see any way to contact Patriot directly but it does seem odd that Dell would say a computer would take the faster ram and not allow the computer to increase the speed to the specs the ram is set to take.

your memory speed is indeed twice what is seen as it isxDDR memory whichmeans double data rat so you are actually running at 1066 speed. uu

I have the same T3500 system with 6x2 GB (12 GBs) Dell provided memory modules, and the SPD shows Memory Speed DDR3-1333 (667 MHz) It may be that the Patriot memory timings are not compatible with the T3500 memory timings.

Just a thought.
