Product key invalid

Hi all,

I am reinstalling windows xp SP2 on my system.

when the window ask for the product key for the XP i provide him with the same.

but it says invalid product key.

I have installed the same XP 8 months back.

some of the character of the key is not visible clearly.

Is there any no. of limits attempts can i try with different combination of keys.

Hello mash123, As far as I know, there is no limit on how many times you can attempt to enter the Windows Product Key numbers.

You may try to get a magnifying glass to determine the product key.

This key does have to be exact.

What system is it?

 

Whatever it is, you shouldn't need to/be asked to activate the OS, because the licence key information is stored in the BIOS on Dell OEM systems, such that when you install the OS, it's already activated?

I reformatted my XPS M1730, and reinstalled Vista Home Premium.  I didn't have to activate it :emotion-55:
