RE: Adding Memory at 8 GB (2)

Hello,

My name is Seth. I just got some additional memory. I have two, 8 GB memory sticks for my Dell XPS 8700. I was wondering just how much memory I can put into my Dell XPS 8700. I already have 8 GB of two 4 GB memory sticks on my system. Now...do I have to take out my two, 4GB memory sticks to add my two, 8 GB memory sticks or can I just add the two, 8 GB memory sticks to the memory I already have?

If you have time to answer, please let me know.

I researched this idea and I came up with numerous answers that go against each other. Some say yes and some say no to adding 16 GB more of memory to my system.

Sincerely,

Seth

Seth,

The XPS 8700 supports up to 32GB of DDR3 memory, you should add 2 x 8GB modules to the existing 2 x 4GB modules giving a total of 24GB, providing the new 16GB memory is compatible.
