Sensors on Dimension 8200

Hi everybody.

I installed latest openSUSE 11.0 on a Dimension 8200 and everything is working quite well except for the fact I am unable to make lm-sensors package work.

As you know, lm-sensors allows a Linux system to get information about temperature, fans and so on. I installed the package and run the sensors-detect utility: it seems it cannot find any compatible sensors on board.

Now the question is: does the 8200 really miss any hardware probe, or I simply need to install something else to make it compatible with the package?

8200 is equipped with Intel 850 chipset and the firmware is A09 version.

Thanks in andvance for any support you can provide.

The temperature sensors aren't there - the 8200 doesn't have any.

Well, that's a pity... and what about fan status?

Thanks

There's a thermistor in the fan itself, but I don't recall ever seeing that anyone figured out how to read its output.

Do you happen to know what the wattage is on the fans?  Apparently there are two fan units available for the 8200, one shows .3 watts and the other .6 watts.  I am trying to find out which unit should be installed into the 8200.  Thank you.
