Start up issue

When I turn on my Inspiron D530S, the fan goes on for several seconds and then it turns off for several more seconds. This repeats three times before the system stays on. Can this issue be corrected? When the system was new, it went on the first time and stayed on,  but after many updates, something has changed. Help.

Hi,

Please follow the troubleshooting steps below to isolate the issue:

1. Reconnect the power cable to the back of the system.
2. Drain the Flea Power from the system. Follow the steps below:
a. Turn the Computer off.
b. Disconnect all cables including the power cable.
c. Hold down the power button for not more than 5 seconds to drain flea power.
e. Now reconnect the power cable and start the system.

3. Boot the system into BIOS and check if the issue occurs. To boot the system into BIOs, shut down the system and once you restart keep tapping F2 key.If PC is not shutting down in BIOS, download and install the BIOS with latest available version from Dell's support site. Use the link below:

http://dell.to/T2hKYc

Once you are on this website, insert system Service Tag and choose Operating System. Now, select BIOs and install the latest one available.

Ensure that while upgrading the BIOS, plug your computer to a good, working UPS. If you experience a loss of AC power or a significant voltage sag/spike during the BIOS flash, you will either have to buy a new BIOS chip or buy a new motherboard.

Once BIOS is updated, restart the system and check if the issue is resolved.

Please reply with the results.
