Trying to salvage an old Dell Dimension 4600i Series
My family has had this old Dell for a while and I recently wanted to see if I could fix it and hopefully copy some old family photos.
However, I know nothing about what happened to it, or how to fix it. Below is an image of the error that I got upon booting it up after a long time
As far as I know, nothing has been removed or changed since the last time it was turned on.

Your screen shot indicates that the internal hard drive has failed. It is possible that you might still be able to use the drive to recover the data you want, but you would need to either repair this computer to a bootable condition (may need to replace the hard drive), or purchase an external drive case for a PATA/IDE drive, install the hard drive into the case, and attach the case to a USB port on a working computer.

You can also try booting to a Linux live CD and using Fedora or Ubuntu to copy the files to an external hard drive:

If you don't have the ability to burn a DVD you can always Buy a magazine with pre made UBUNTU DVD
14.04 is the latest Long term support version.
