USB Hubs?
I'm considering replacing my Dimension 4600 with a new PC and some of the contenders have limited USB ports in the rear. My 4600 has 6 in rear and 2 in front. Ideally, I need at least 5 rear USB ports. If I like everything else about the potential new PC should I just forget about this issue and stick a reliable hub back there?

Should not be a issue. You could always add a USB adapter card like the ones in the link below. Easy to install.
