Using Inspiron One 2310 as an External Monitor

Hi,

I am trying to use "Input 2" on the rear of my Dell Inspiron One 2310 to enable it to act as an external monitor to extend the desktop of my laptop but I am unsure how to do this.  If this is not possible then what is "Input 2" (or 3 for that matter) meant to be used for?

Cheers

Yes I see that but I also see the word (OPTIONAL) leading me to believe that not all the models have this "FEATURE"

So its the Square Button on the Left Side.

I think that is meant to connect another monitor to the 2310. Have you tried this?

Actually it says Optional Input.  No Idea what the Spec is for HDMI or VGA or Composite "OPTIONAL" input aka what parts are needed.

It says in the set-up manual that it's in an Input so I don't think it's for connecting another monitor to the 2310 (this would be an output).  It does however say that it's optional.  So how do I know if it's enabled on my 2310 and if it is, how do I use it?

Thanks for your input, I did look at the set-up manual manual before making the original post and it only added to my confusion. As you noted, it does say that it's an optional input.  So I need to know how I can find if it's enabled on my 2310 and if it is, how do I use it?

I'm curious as well.  Unfortunately I'm not a Dell Engineer so I don't have access to that information.

If your PC has the port on the back, then it has the 'option' enabled.  You have to push the Video Selection Button as shown in the diagram and HOLD it down for 3 seconds for the selector to pop up on the screen.  I use it to connect my laptop to the monitor.
