Video Card not detected by an GX280

I've just bought an ATI Radeon x500 video card and put in the spare PCIe slot in my GX280.

The system does not detect the hardware.

Ive been into the BIOS and the Integrated Devices- Primary Video Controller is set to AUTO.

Still no joy

My system is a mini-tower with a 305 W power supply

Anyone any ideas?

Al

Well, being as my post wasn't answered, I'd like to request that Dell do their customers a great service.

Please let us know which graphics cards are compatible with the Optiplex GX280 (mini-tower, 305W psu), plus any further configuration/driver requirements.

Perhaps this information could be included within the FAQ section of this board.

Getting a PC to detect a new piece of hardware shouldn't be a difficult job. I hope we can be given the neccesary support.

I don't represent Dell, but Dell only offered the x300 and x600 on this system. Try one of those and see what it does.

Thanks for the reply, Dev Mgr...

I don't suppose you'd know the part no. for the x600?

Cheers,

When I build a GX620 (also uses PCIe) small desktop and select the X600 with dual DVI/VGA, it comes with a SKU number of 320-4392. You'd want to call Dell sales or spare parts and see what they can do with getting you that partnumber. It may not be available seperately thru their online sales (site).
