Will the GTX 1060 work in a XPS 8700?
I'm looking to upgrade my XPS 8700 with a 1060 3gb. In theory, if I remove the current video drivers, update the bios to A10 and slap that baby in everything should be working fine?
card : EVGA GTX 1060 3GB
i7-4790
16gb RAM
GTX 745
460w PSU

Yes, the 10x0 cards work well with BIOS A10 for Win7/81 or A11 for Win10.
I prefer a fullsize card with two fans like the MSI Computer GTX 1060 3GT, or the ASUS GeForce GTX 1060 3GB Dual-Fan OC Edition, or the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 Windforce OC 3GB or EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB FTW DT GAMING ACX 3.0.
Also, I think I'd spend $20 or $30 more and get the 6GB version.
My preference has been the MSI Gaming TwinFrozr style cards.
And, you can sell the GTX 745 for $30 to $50 on eBay.
good luck.
