XPS 2710 on screen audio control frozen - can't increase/decrease the audio.

When I touch the compacitive on-screen buttons they work for toggling the monitor input back and forth from HDMI to PC and for brightness controls, but the audio doesn't budge.  It's controllable in the software but it is annoying.  Hitting volume up/down doesn't budge it.  It's not the end of the world....kind of a bitter reminder to not buy all-in-one systems from companies like HP, Dell, Lenovo...etc.

I uninstalled the OSD driver, downloaded it from Dell, installed it again with no change.  What's strange is regardless of whether or not Windows 7 or Linux the issue is there with no change.

I feel like this issue is stuck in whatever preconfigured all-in-one hardware or bios as it seems to be OS agnostic.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
