XPS 8300 Processor upgrade.

Jump to solution

I am looking to upgrade my 2.80 GHz processor and need to know what is compatible with the computer.

From what I've read, but do not know if it is true, you can only have a certain processors due to something that is part of the computer.

Even if this is not true i would like a list of possible upgrades (under 4 GHz and above 3 GHz please) and if they will fit in the standard casing.

Thanks!

Are any of the Intel i7 Ivy Bridge or Haswell CPUs compatible with the XPS 8500?

Thanks!

I have a Core i5 3570K Ivy Bridge in my 8500. I'm not sure about the i7, but note that an SSD boot drive will make a much bigger difference than an i7.

The board is a Socket 1155 while the Haswells are Socket 1150, so Haswell CPUs are incompatible.
