back to upgrading from the e6320
thanks chris for the reply about the possible CPU upgrade paths for my e6320/LGA 775 socket on the NVidia motherboard XPS 710 w the 1.4.1 BIOS
you had mentioned the quad core--specifically I was interested in the UP673 Kentsfield Quad Core QX6700, 2.66GHz, 8MB, 1066FSB, B3
my concern was the heat generated and the power required (95W)
will the system then need a new cooling fan?--presently I have been running 20-31 deg on the e6320 while Crysis 2 was running ; the system has a GT 240 NVIDIA card as well (single card);
I believe the PSU has enough capacity to handle the increased CPU draw though I might be concerned if the system had to get a new type of cooling system

I think Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700 / 2.66 GHz is what some of them came with so it would be a mater of Power Supply and Heatsink.
I have no data on what parts are validated with what.
