dell inspiron 17R 5720 dim LCD screen

my laptop works perfectly but sometime  the screen dims and one cannot see anything. On start up also it gives this type of problem but I can see dell logo by flashing light on it. When i put windows  cd while starting the light comes and it works but again after hours it dims again . This has happened so many times. I did diagnostic tests and all came perfect . can anyone help what is exact problem
