hardware issues
I have never been able to use the audio plug in the back of my dell computer, Vostro 200, i suspect there may be a jumper issue or some other set up problem... any suggestions?

As far as I know, the one on the front and the one on the back are connected to the same source. In fact, I'd expect the front to be the one that's problematic.
Are you sure you're connecting to the correct jack in the back? I believe it's going to be the ligh green colored jack (whichever one has the picture of sound waves with the arrows pointing AWAY from the center).
