icons on desktop

ok this is a really mundane issue. ive got a new XPS 630 with 22inch screen (which can only get a resolution of 1680x1024 which is quite big in my standards).

Anyway the size of the resolution only permits 9 icons going down so there is a big gap at the bottom where apparaently no icon will fit. to me this feels inbalanced so i was wondering what properties i can change to allow icons to fit perfectly vertically down the screen?

Thanks

before anyone answers i have adjusted vertical icon spacing. but with this screen i can t seem to get it to a point where icons will fit nicely. (unless i change it to 0)

has anyone found the optimal settings?

On my 1280x1024 pixel LCD screen I get 13 icons in a column on the desktop, which fit neatly from top to just above taskbar. My settings are icon: size 32, with 10pt tahoma font, vertical spacing 43

LCD panels are made with a fixed number of pixels (for the 2208 WFP 22" ultrasharp that is 1680x1050, according to the spec) and are best set at their native resolution.
