need a PCI video card that supports 1920x1200 @ 60Hz for B110 [SOLVED]

Hi,

I just received the 2407WFP A03 LCD monitor which I bought last week using the 20% off coupon PLUS the 15% off holiday special for $581 including tax.  And I have a problem.  In order to achieve its native resolution of 1920x1200, the signal needs to be at 60Hz.  My IBM Thinkpad T43 can do that and so it drives this monitor perfectly fine.  Unfortunately, my Dimension B110 can only provide 1920x1200 @ 75Hz, and at 60Hz, the highest resolution supported is 1600x1200.

Several previous threads recommended 6200, FX5500, FX5200 or X1300 as being compatible with the B110 (which requires PCI cards, not AGP or PCI Express), but I am not sure if they support 1920x1200 @ 60Hz.  Does anyone know of a specificcard that can do that?  It would be great if it can also run Vista'a Aero interface.  FYI, the power supply in my B110 is rated at 250W.

Thanks in advance for your help!

The X1300 is the only road to Vista for your PCI Slot.

Okay, problem solved, by installing an NVidia GeForce FX5500 PCI card.  I looked up the words "B110" and "FX5500" on this forum and found that everyone (about 6 people) who had tried this card on the B110 failed.  This is what I did to get it to work:

1) plugged the card into the PCI slot with the machine turned off
2) powered up the machine while still using the integrated video card; Windows found an FX5500 driver automatically
3) went to Device Manager to disable the integrated video card
4) shut down the machine
5) transferred the VGA cable from the integrated video port to the FX5500's port
6) powered up the machine, Windows started, and I increased the resolution to 1920x1200
7) downloaded and installed the latest driver from NVidia's site, which seems to enable smoother DVD playback

So, if you are considering upgrading your B110's video card, you should go ahead get an FX5500.
