power safe mode

When I start up my computer.. my computer boots up but the monitor does not go 'green' and stays orange so I cannot view anything. When I press anything on the monitor it says "Power Safe Mode: Press any key or move mouse" and I do but the screen goes away and I still cannot see my main screen or anything, it just stays black. Any help? The lights on back of  tower are green.  I was told it could be my memory card.   Do you have any suggestions?

thanks, ld

Hi lisadowning,

"Power save mode" is what your monitor displays when there is no video signal coming from the computer. So the next thing to figure out is why there is no signal coming from the computer. The first thing I would do (sorry if this seems sort of obvious) is to pull out the video cable from the back of the computer and plug it back in firmly.

This problem is not likely to be a memory module. That would cause the system to beep and give you one or more yellow lights, whereas you said you have four green lights.

When you post back, please tell us the model of your Dell desktop.
