wireless adapter Question

I have a Dell Dimension E520 that has a Netgear WPN range (TM) Wireless PCI adapter in it

I need to upgrade it and buy another one. I have Ultimate Time Warner cable 50mbps, but I'm only getting around 15 mbps on download speed test

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit

My question is...What adapter do I need? model # and brand

Best bang for the buck is an 802.11 N USB based unit with better antenna.  Relative speed also depends on how far away you are and how many obstructions, are in-between you and the router.  You also seem to be confusing MEGA BITS per second to MEGA BYTES per second which is almost 10x difference.  15 meg is good speed. You are also only as fast as the slowest link.  Anything more than 1.5 Meg both ways is fine for streaming video etc.  At 300K per second it starts stuttering and buffering and below that it pauses and crashes every 25 seconds.

A more expensive 802.11 AC unit will not be faster unless you spend $100 or more on an 802.11AC router.
