Dimension 3000 Power Supply Upgrade

I bought a used D3000 at a rummage sale, and I'm in the process of upgrading it. I've put in a pair of 80Gb IDE HDD, and a Radeon 9200 PCI video card (512 mb) and a video card fan to help keep things cooler. The stock CD/DVD burner will not burn DVD's and burns CD's about half the time. I'm thinking I need to upgrade from the 250W standard PSU.

Question: I have a good Thermaltake Purepower 2.0 with a 600w output from another system. It was only used for about 3 months before the owner replaced his tower with a laptop for portability. And I know that the D3000 uses a standard ATX PSU.

Would this PSU fry my system, or should I just forget about Disc burning?

I also have a Memorex CD-RW/DVD-ROM that I could put in. I could live without the DVD burner, but a CD burner is needed.

I have built "Frankenstein systems" before, but this is the first time I've worked with a Dell. Any thoughts?
