Inspiron 530 - 4 beeps error

I opened up my computer and noticed that the heat sink was very dusty, I undid the bracket for the heat sink and took it out and cleaned of the heat sink, I didn't take any of the termal paste off. I put everyting back the way I found it, and when I closed up the computer and went to turn it on, The fans came on, the power light went and stayed a steady blue, but it was make a continues 4 beeps. Please help!

Thanks in advance.

P.S. I am comfortable working inside it

4 Beeps > RAM Read/Write failure.

<ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>

Try the easy fix first, remove and reinstall all the memory modules.

A year ago I removed the 2 - 512mbs of ram and replaced with 4 - 1GB.  This worked for about a year a 4 BEEPS.  I removed all the ram and 1 by 1 tried each ram individually.   One ram would not work and got 4 beeps.   I then reinstalled all but the one ram that got the 4 beeps and I have 3 GB of ram showing up in my system.  Winning!

Sounds like one module had failed.
