Transplanting Motherboard

Has anyone been successful in tranplanting a Dimension 4700 motherboard into a 19" rack-mountable
case?  I have been advised that this feat is possible if you have an ATX-type motherboard.  Is it a
safe assumption that a 4700-series motherboard is an "ATX" type?

It's ATX in size, but not in front panel wiring, mounting holes, and rear I/O shield. You'd need at least a 2u (if not a 3u) chassis to allow use of the PCI and AGP slots.

Thanks for your quick response.   I will keep your suggestion in mind since our unit has separate CD & DVD drives.
