Vostro 3250 memory upgrade problem

Hi

I have a new Vostro 3250 system, and am wanting to add extra RAM to it.

It has 4 go od DDR3L 1600 installed and I am trying to add another 4gb.

When I add the 2nd stick (also Kingston DDR3L 1600), the system will not boot at all. Blank screen, no POST or beeps and unable to enter any setup etc.

Works absolutely fine with just one stick installed in slot 1 (either existing or new ram) but not with both installed in either order.

Any ideas? Already on the latest BIOS.

Thanks

The memory that came in the computer was Kingston memory, so I used the search on the Kingston site to select the correct memory for the computer, so both are Kingston memory. Each stick works fine on its own, it's just when both are in the computer does not boot.

Fans start spinning, but I get nothing on the screen and no POST beeps or anything

Try Dell or Crucial.com to get the correct memory chips. Best to have matching pair(s) of ram instead of a mismatched pair.

Table 3. — Memory

Memory module connector two UDIMM slot

Memory module capacity 2 GB, 4 GB, and 8 GB

Type 1600 MHz DDR3L (non-ECC)

Minimum memory 2 GB

NOTE: Depending on the operating system installed, the requirement of the minimum memory might vary.

Maximum memory 16 GB

NOTE: Each UDIMM slot supports a maximum of 8 GB memory.
