DiskXtender is EOL - Replacement product?
What are we needing to use to replace DX as its EOL?

Depending on how it is being used today, you have multiple options.
SourceOne for Files
Cloud Tiering Appliance (CTA)

DiskXtender for Windows remains an active product and continues to be supported by EMC.

Is the DiskXtender Windows still alive? Is it going to be EOLed soon?

The product is very much active and continues to be supported. Future releases are being planned. There are no plans to EOL the product.

So, if both products are available, which should I use? S1 for File Archiving, or, Disk Xtender?
I am concerned about choosing the incorrect one.
Is either one of them supported when being used on the file server side when using Windows Branchcache on the client side?

Is this still true? There is no EOL for DiskXtender? We have clients informing us that Centera Support guys are telling them that DiskXtender is nearing EOL and that they should not be using it any more.

This question has been answered several times and even at the top this discussion chain. There is no plan for EOL. You can write to Product manager Sudhindra Sheshadrivasan and confirm.

There is no EOL planned for DX. We came out with a new release in November and we have future releases planned. DXW remains an active product.

DXUL is end of life. There is no official replacement but DXW and CTA can be considered.

It's not so easy to put HP-UX boxes writing to Windows server for archiving to Centera.
(Of course you can do it, but normally these unix people don't like the idea of introducing
a windows server there).
Also CTA is not a solution, since it requires NAS head (Celerra/VNX/NetApp).
So probably CUA is only reasonable way to go?
If you copy a file from DXUL to CUA, will it actually require double space in Centera or
will Centera detect that it's same file and use Single instancing? Or does DXUL and CUA
wrap actual data differently so that Centera won't detect these as duplicates?

Hi,
You can leverage StorFirst EAS as a replacement to DX. We (Seven10), are a long-time partner of EMC's, over 10 years, with 350 shared customers.
StorFirst EAS has been leveraged time and time again by EMC customers as a replacement for either CUA or DX and sometimes both in the same environment. We are a massively scalable CIFS/NFS file system that works with all sorts of back end storage types; NAS, CAS, Object, Cloud and even Tape/VTL. You can also use our file system to automate multiple tiers of storage under one pane of glass, and perform seamless migrations to next-generation storage platforms. Please let me know if you would like to talk further, as we can reference the other sites at which we've helped replace a pre-existing file system such as DX or CUA.
I look forward to your reply.
All the best,
Derick Smith

As of today, there is no plan for DX EOL. The latest version we have 6.5 SP5 released on 2013-06-12.

Hi all,
Based on EMC Released dated 18 June 2014, DiskExtender 6.5 SP6 would EOP on 31 July 2015.
How do I know whether EMC would produce new DXW release or it will totally EOP?
Thanks.
