Advice on EMC exam path for sale professional

Hi All,

I'm new to certications of EMC.Let me introduce myself.  I am an IT sales professional who designs and sells enterprise class storage products. I've been doing this for 7 years. It is mostly oem whitebox hardware/software solutions. At this stage of my career, I plan on moving into service part of business ( IaaS) and try to get a job in a datacenter as a sales professional. Those positions require storage / cloud certifications. I looked at the EMC certification roadmap. I'm a bit confused.

How should I start ? What's the most effective way to get started and advance in this path?

Thanks

SalTi

Hi Salti,

As per your plans and requirements. I would recommend you to choose the Cloud Architect track (EMCCA). click here to view the track https://education.emc.com/guest/certification/framework/ca/default.aspx.

EMC CA certification helps architect and design infrastructure leading to virtualized data center and cloud environment. Virtualized Infrastructure (VI) certification puts you at the forefront of the changing IT landscape as traditional physical data centers evolve and morph into virtual entities and cloud environments.

The best way to start is get EMC CIS (E20-002) certified. Its a Associate level course focused on virtualization and cloud infrastructure technology concepts and principles applicable to any vendor environment. click here to learn more about EMC CIS. This certification will help you in assessing your understanding of virtualization and cloud computing technologies.

After getting EMC CIS certified you would progress to E20-018 Virtualized Data Center and Cloud Infrastructure Design Specialist and E20-918 IT-as-a-Service Expert Exam for Cloud Architects.

Hi Varun,

Thanks for taking time to responde.

To be able to grasp its technology, concepts and practices, I am also considering to take a class on EMC info storage and managment at the local community college.

Would this be a good idea for a sales professional?

Or should I go straight on to focus on getting E20-002, E20-018 and 918?

Thanks,

Salti

Hi Salti,

You can go ahead and take the class on Information Storage and Managementv2. This would certainly help you evaluate storage architectures and key data center elements in classic, virtualized and cloud environments and

also lead to the cloud architect track. For more information on ISMv2 click here.

You can either go for E10-001 or E20-002 before you move to E20-018 and E20-918.

Regards

Varun
