About Luiz Pissinatti

Luiz received his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from UNESP Brazil in 1999. Since then, he has worked in a number of different technical roles such as Support Engineer, Product Specialist, Implementation Architect, Project and Product Manager within the IT industry. Luiz’ relationship with EMC began as a customer when he was working for a large data center in Brazil. Right away, he was impressed with EMC's agility and flexibility when working on new projects and began to think it would be a great place to work.

Luiz started his career working with Solaris and servers, eventually moving toward mission critical environments with storage and backup projects. His time as a customer was a great experience and provided an opportunity to see things from a very different perspective.

Luiz joined EMC three years ago as a Technical Consultant and is now a Sales Representative for enterprise accounts.  Recently, Luiz sold an upgrade to the machine he bought as a customer; an event that reconfirmed buying EMC at that time was the best decision!

In this Knowledge Sharing article, Data Protection in a Nutshell—A Tiered Approach, Luiz describes how to build a whiteboard discussion explaining backup mechanics that show the evolution of traditional backups and their challenges, as well as what new technologies exist today that can also be used.

Luiz will explain how multiple solutions such as replication, Continuous Data Protection (CDP), backup-to-disk, and data deduplication can be combined to augment traditional backup strategies, delivering a tiered approach to data protection that is capable of meeting multiple SLAs within the enterprise.
