Dell Latitude E5550 SCCM PXE boot Imaging Issue

Hi,

I am having issues with imaging Dell Latitude E5550 with System Center 2012 R2 via PXE boot.

The E5550 PXE boots, and before it can load the task sequence you see the background image and then reboots. Looking at CMD and running ipconfig the laptop has no IP. I have loaded the Intel(R) Ethernet Connection I218-LM driver into the boot image and still no joy.

I have used the latest drivers on Dell’s website which is version 12.12.80.19 and also gone direct to Intel’s website and used their latest driver which is 12.13.17.4 both have been injected into the PXE image and tested but still imaging doesn’t work.

Any help much appreciated

I am also having this issue, we attempted to use the dell supplied drivers, version 19.5.0.0, A11.

Even in the fixes it lists 'Fixed issue that system can not get IP under Win PE environment."

Where you able to resolve this issue?

Which driver did you use? As I need to import this into SCCM. I extract the files and end up with 3 folders called E1C, E1D and E1R with different versions of windows inside each folder. The driver needs to be added to our PXE boot image.

I imported all three.

Finally got this to work today. I used the driver inside E1D – Windows 8.1 x64. The mistake is was also making was injecting Windows 7 x64 drivers into the PXE image when our PXE image must use Windows 8.1 x64 drives.

To start with the driver would not import into SCCM as I was receiving the error ‘The selected driver is not applicable to any supported platforms’. I did a google and found a hotfix if the SCCM server was running on a Windows Server 2008 R2, which it wasn’t. I then found this article below.

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/aea8bd6e-c757-4104-afe0-f93e9d19f22e/the-selected-driver-is-not-applicable-to-any-supported-platforms-2012-r2-u1-for-windows-81-x64?forum=configmanagerosd

Basically, opening the driver you want to import and add either NTx86.6.1 or NTamd64.6.1 to the [Manufacturer] section inside the .inf file. Adding ‘NTamd64.6.3, NTamd64, NTamd64.6.1’ enabled the driver to be imported into SCCM.

Then adding this driver this driver into the PXE image enabled the Dell Latitude E5550 to boot and get an IP address and show the task sequence.
