Networker - Not auto loading/unloading tapes

We are running a 2-drive SL48 jukebox using NetWorker Management Console version 3.4.4 and NetWorker version 7.4.4 . One drive is "shared" for NDMP backups.

We are having problems persuading it to AutoMount a tape onto the "shared" drive when there is an "idle" NDMP tape already mounted. If we manually "unmount" the NDMP tape then the required tape from another Pool will load. The 2nd (non-NDMP) drive behaves in the correct manner and will automount a tape from another Pool when the backup needs it. The shared drive will load tapes from other pools when there is nothing already mounted in it.

Both drives are "Enabled" for all pools, other than the NDMP pool - which is confined to the shared drive. We've tried having "Auto Media Managment" on and off at the jukebox level but makes no difference.

Any ideas please .....

AMM has nothing to do with it. What is the setting you use for idle device timeout in Timers tab of jukebox? Set it to 1 and see what happens. Btw, if tape device is in idle mode it won't unload. It should be in reading or writing done.

Many thanks for prompt response ....

"idle device timeout" was set to 10 - reset to 1 - no change .... still refuses to automatically unload/load tapes on NDMP drive.

(Message does actually say "writing, done" - sorry for misleading quote)

That's strange as within a minute after done message is set for device it should unload it. Unless there is an issue with reservation I'm out of idea what else could it be. To skip dry guessing, best bet would be to supply logs and resources to your support to check if everything is configured in order or not.

Ok - thanks for that ...
Will chase it up with support.
