Error upgrading PS6100 to v7.1.12

I am trying to upgrade a PS6100 from v6.0.11 to v7.1.12. The device has 70-0400 Type 11 controllers. The upgrade fails with "ERROR:30.4.1:Array firmware update from version V6.0.11 to V7.1.12 failed. Reason: The Type 11 controller is not supported by this firmware. See the latest Release Notes for more information.."

The v7.1.12 release notes show the controller to be supported, so I am not sure why I am receiving this error. Any ideas on what is going on or how to get this unit upgraded?

Hello,

There are two kits available, a 32bit and 64bit.  The type 11 should take the 64bit version.

Depending on how you attempted to upgrade, if you used FTP, then when you transfer the correct kit, make sure the first one has been removed.

That was the problem...I was trying to use the 32-bit firmware. Thanks!

Hello,

You are very welcome!  Glad that revolved it.

On he firmware download page, when you've selected the version it has some info on the bottom of page on what controllers use what version.

You also may want to upgrade to 8.x or greater.   With 9.0 being released, the actively supported versions are 9.0 and 8.1.

I assume that you tried it directly from the command line rather than using GrpMgr GUI because the later one shows clearly that a 32bit FW cant flashed on a 64bit member.

Using the cmd have some advantages when you would like to see whats going wrong during FW flashing :)

Joerg

PS: Keep in mind to flash the Drives also and not only the controllers. The drive kit FW is cmd only!
