PS4000 Hard Drive limits

Hi all,

I have a PS4000 with Firmware V8.0.5.

I know that it is in EoL, but can someone tell me if there is any capacity limits on hard drive?

I tried to use 16 disks of 4TB capacity each, but the PS4000 only detects 1,64TB per disks (at least, this is what I can see on the web console).

Any idea why ?

Thanks a lot,

GE

Hello,

The largest supported drive is 2TB.  Since it uses the SATA interface that's limited to 2TB by spec. The field that holds the drive capacity info is limited to 2TB.

Newer array controllers support  the Near Line SAS (NL-SAS) spec which supports larger drive sizes.

So what you are seeing is the capacity field exceeding past 2TB and wrapping around to show 1.6TB.

 Regards,

Don
